The one who inspired me...

1973 - 2006

One of my favourite rapper, and influence, died yesterday, from a gunshot. He was shot in the head and pronounced dead when he reached the hospital. Proof is a member of D12, and he was always around Eminem for performances as a hypeman. When i went to Kansas City to watch Eminem live, i was so excited to see all the other acts. Proof was really amazing on stage. During the set, he staged dive on the mosh pit. I was there ofcourse, so bloody excited bout everything that was going on. I will never forget that night.

Came back to Singapore, inspired and all, i wanted to be a rap artist in the local scene. I didnt have any instrumental, and i was not into making beats at that time. So i managed to get my hands on one of Proof's crazy track, called 'Yzarc'. I looped it and it became one of my first rap song. I did a memorable set at Beats For Peace with that song. Everybody chanted my name along with the beat, cause i made them to do that. Hehe! I still have the live recording of it. That song was so important ok. It sparked off the funny part of FreakyZ. And thanks to Proof for the the inspirational track.

I personally think Proof was the best in D12, with his husky voice and dope rhymes. He still the best to me and he will always be. I dont know why i'm feeling very sad when Rama told me bout the news of his death. But one thing is for sure, i listen to his music and he did influenced me on my songs. He has put Detroit on the hiphop map, and thats what i wanna do from now on. He will be missed definitely by alot of people all around the world.
